To start laying down cards into Melds, the point total of cards played must exceed the round minimum: The player with the highest score at the end of all four Rounds wins the game.Ī player must have at least one card in their Hand at all times unless they are going into their Foot and must keep one card in their Foot at all times unless they are Going Out. At the end of each Round, the points of each player are tallied, and the point total from all previous Rounds are added together to form the total points. Each Round ends when one player goes out. If you did not go out, you lose points for any cards left in your Hand and/or Foot at the end of the play. You score points for cards you have melded and for each Book. Have at least one Red Book and one Black Book.Have reached your Foot and played it completely, AND.A player does not need to discard if they have played all cards in their Hand (at which point they ‘Run’ to their Foot) or if they play all cards in their Foot and Go Out.Ī Round ends when one player ‘goes out’. At the end of a turn, a player discards one card into the Discard Pile. During a turn, a player can lay down Melds and/or Books if the minimum point total for the round can be met (see Minimum Round Points). Cards of equal rank can be added to complete Books however Wild Cards cannot be played on Red Books.ĭuring each turn, a player must pick up either two cards from the Draw Pile or five cards from the Discard Pile (see Discard Pile Pickup Rules). While Melds are laid out face up for everyone to see, completed Books are piled up and the card placed on top shows the type – a red card for a Red Book, a black card for a Black Book. A minimum Black Meld consists of two Ranked Cards and one Wild Card.

3s left in a player’s Hand and/or Foot will take away points at the end of each round.Ģs and Jokers are Wild Cards and can be used in Melds, as long as there is at least one more Ranked Card than Wild Card(s). 3s must be discarded immediately to play the game successfully. A black 3 is worth -50 points and a red three is worth -500 points. In other words, you cannot have two separate Melds or Books of 8s for instance.ģs cannot be melded or formed into Books as they represent negative points. Only one meld of each type of Ranked Card can be played in a round. You can create Melds from any of the Ranked Cards: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4. A Black Meld has Wild Cards and may become a Black Book.Ī Meld of seven or more cards is complete and is called a Book.A Red Meld has no Wild Cards and may become a Red Book.Points are scored from the Melds and Books played, and points are deducted when a Player does not play all of the cards in their Hand and Foot sets. Once a Meld reaches seven cards, a Book is created. Cards are initially played in a Meld, which is a set of three or more cards of equal rank placed face up on the table. The goal is to get rid of cards from your Hand and then from your Foot, by creating Melds and Books. Each player begins play by picking up their Hand. Un-dealt cards are placed in a Draw Pile in the center of the table. Each player is dealt two sets of cards one hand set (Hand) and one foot set (Foot). If it was semi-transparent, I could see thru it so I could complete my play and then say Yes to the banner.Hand and Foot is a single player card game that can be played against one, two, or three virtual opponents. I have to say No to the “do you want to play it” banner to get it out of my way so I can see my cards. It covers up the most left stack of my books, and I sometimes forget which book it is or if it is clean/dirty when I am making my play. >QOL update: i love the banner at left that lets you play your turn after your friend makes a move, but I wish it was a bit more transparent. Wondering if that restart is some sort of hidden penalty that gets imposed when I finally go out. When I go back to the game, it restarts my turn. I have wondered if this happens after I start my turn and then need to minimize the app to do something else (read a text, for example) before I have discarded. >mysterious card appears in a players hand after they already went out. No option for this glitch except to delete the game >Occasionally (infrequent, but has happened a few times), the game seems to get stuck between players and won’t let either player take a turn. There are a few glitches and QOL updates needed, though. My friends and I play each other in the on-line version.
